Join us for Marillac St. Vincent Family Services’ annual Lumière Gala on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at the Bridgeport Art Center. This highly anticipated event is dedicated to raising essential funds and increasing awareness for our mission-driven initiatives. The Lumière Gala is not only a celebration of our organization’s achievements but also a platform to honor individuals and organizations whose support helps transform lives, moving individuals from merely surviving to truly thriving.
Honoring Dedication & Commitment
Each year, MSV has the distinguished honor of presenting the Luminary Award to an individual or entity whose exceptional dedication aligns with our vision, mission, and core values. This award recognizes those who embody the spirit of service and philanthropy, making significant contributions to the community and advancing MSV’s objectives.
This year’s Luminary Award honoree is Riverside Natural Foods, recognized for their unwavering dedication to service and philanthropy, making a meaningful impact on our community.
We are also pleased to present the Sister Katie Norris Visionary Award, named in honor of Sister Katie Norris, a cherished member of the Daughters of Charity. This award celebrates individuals who exemplify compassion, dedication, and visionary leadership in service to others. Sister Katie has devoted more than two decades to the mission of Marillac St. Vincent, making this recognition especially meaningful.
This year’s Visionary Award honoree is Father Bart Winters, honored for his compassion, dedication, and visionary leadership that has profoundly shaped and supported our mission.
Background of Lumière: A Legacy of Service
The new name, Lumière, previously the Fleur de Lis Ball, reflects the enduring legacy of the Daughters of Charity, who chose Chicago as the founding city for both the Marillac Social Center (1914) and the St. Vincent de Paul Center (1915). The word “Lumière,” which means "light" in French, is a reference to a profound vision experienced by St. Louise de Marillac in 1623. In this vision, she received her calling from God to dedicate her life to those in need—a calling that led to the establishment of the Daughters of Charity in Paris, France, alongside St. Vincent de Paul.
Marillac St. Vincent Family Services continues this commitment to service in Chicago, bringing light and hope to all those we serve. The love and compassion shared by our people and partners make it possible for us to provide life-changing services, guiding individuals towards a future where they can flourish and thrive.
Your participation in Lumière will help raise vital funds that support our ongoing work to provide lifesaving services to Chicagoans of all ages—from birth to senior citizenship.
