In 2018, Jim Allison, PhD, Chair of the Department of Immunology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, was jointly awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine with Tasuku Honjo, MD, PhD, for launching an effective new way to attack cancer by treating the immune system rather than the tumor. Allison is the first MD Anderson scientist to receive the world’s most preeminent award for outstanding discoveries in the fields of life sciences and medicine.
He has spent a distinguished career studying the regulation of T cell responses and developing strategies for cancer immunotherapy. In his current work, Dr. Allison is seeking to improve immune checkpoint blockade therapies currently used by our clinicians and identify new targets to unleash the immune system in order to eradicate cancer.
His numerous other MD Anderson positions include the VP of Immunobiology and Regental Professor of the Department of Immunology, Director of the James P. Allison Institute, Olga Keith Wiess Distinguished University Chair for Cancer Research, Executive Director of the Immunotherapy Platform, Director of the Parker Institute for Cancer Research, and Deputy Director of the David H. Koch Center for Applied Research of Genitourinary Cancers.
Ten (10) lucky guests will have the unique opportunity to join Dr. Allison and his wife, Pam, at the home of Founding VICTORY member, Cyvia Wolff, for a delicious dinner, libations and engaging conversation on Saturday, May 3, 2025.
Plan to bid on this once-in-a-lifetime chance to spend the evening with one of the most esteemed researchers of our era!
