About Our Organization
The Church of the Holy Spirit Mission & Outreach
Since The Church of the Holy Spirit's founding in 1902, serving those in need has been at the heart of who we are. In the words of 1 Peter 4:11, we believe we are called to be stewards of God's grace, serving others by the strength that God supplies.
In response to that calling, Mission and Outreach has long worked to serve those in need by building sustainable relationships across northern Lake County, the metropolitan Chicago area, and the world, working in relationship with organizations that provide services and resources to our neighbors and enhance the life of our community.
Of course, none of this would be possible without the unwavering commitment parishioners have shown toward M&O's work. In addition to serving more people, we also look forward to increasing the capacity for members of CHS to engage in the work our funded ministries are doing. We hope that as we continue to connect the ministries we provide, members and families at CHS will find a growing number of uniquely and compellingly meaningful opportunities to serve our neighbors and impact their future.
Some of the organizations we have supported in the past are: Beacon Place, ElderCare - Waukegan, Waukegan 2 College, Mother’s Trust, Reading Power, PADS, Bravo Waukegan, A Safe Place, Northern Illinois Food Bank (El Puente Latino directed), The Lake County Haven, Fill A Heart 4 Kids, CHS Serving Sundays/Work Trip/New Youth Group, Career Resource Center, Midwest Veterans Closet & Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe.
