  Learning in Action (LIA) is more than an academic enrichment program for the After School students, it is a leadership pipeline. Staffed by Madonna Mission alumni, LIA counselors model accountability, mentorship and enthusiasm.

  • Employ alumni as paid summer counselors and mentors

  • Provide weekly swimming at Loyola Academy — the undisputed favorite activity

  • Offer experiences like plays, movies, and cultural outings

  • Build confidence and lasting community

  Safe Passage, Steady Access

  For our students, opportunity depends on something simple but essential: getting there, and getting home safely. Transportation is one of Madonna Mission’s largest and most important expenses because it removes the practical barriers that can quietly derail progress.

  Your support helps us:

  • Provide safe bus rides home for After School students traveling after dusk

  • Transport Summer LIA students to weekly swim instruction and enrichment outings

  • Offer bus cards to ESL students who live beyond walking distance

  A gift at this level keeps students moving forward, safely and consistently. Every ride home, every trip to swim, every commute to class - the ripple effect begins with access.

  Removing Barriers Through Childcare

  For many newcomer mothers, the greatest barrier to learning English is simple and urgent: Who will care for my child? Madonna Mission solves for that barrier by providing childcare at no cost during ESL classes, allowing mothers to focus fully on learning, growing and connection.

  Your support helps us:

  • Provide safe, nurturing care for students’ young children

  • Employ three childcare providers — all alumni of our ESL program

  • Lay the groundwork for expanded early childhood development programming

  A gift at this level can help support our childcare team, ensuring that mothers can pursue language skills with confidence, knowing their children are cared for just steps away.

  Launching Our Music Program

  For many of our After School students, English is still new. Music becomes a bridge - helping language take root while building confidence and belonging. 

  Your support makes it possible for students to:

  • Strengthen English skills through rhythm, lyrics and song
  • Explore instruments from around the world
  • Join our growing student choir
  • Build confidence and experience the joy, creativity and connection that music brings

  A gift at this level helps us purchase instruments, provide instruction and ensure every child has the opportunity to discover their voice.
