Each year, The Madonna Foundation seeks philanthropic gifts for two types of technology, selected by Hospital leadership, that will benefit patients during their rehabilitation journeys. This year, Madonna is raising funds to bring the following to each campus:
The ARC-EX is a groundbreaking, FDA-approved non-invasive spinal cord stimulation therapy designed to enhance hand and arm function in individuals with incomplete spinal cord injuries. The ARC-EX delivers electrical pulses via electrodes placed on the skin; 90% of participants improved strength or function of their upper limbs, 87% reported improvement in quality of life.
The Accent 1400 is a powerful speech generating device designed for individuals with complex communication needs, accommodating all ages, disabilities and levels of communication. Adding the Accent 1400 to Madonna’s technology lab, with eye gaze and head gaze switches as well as wheelchair mounts.
