Why is the annual auction called the Traveler’s Gala?
Our annual auction is called The Traveler’s Gala after our namesake, Saint James the Traveler. Tradition claims that St. James took his walking stick and a leather pouch and set out to share the good news of Jesus. Fearlessly, he spoke of the coming of the Messiah until he was martyred for his faith.
Just as St. James ventured across miles to spread the gospel, we, too, are constantly striving to move forward – to grow in our faith and service and to spread God’s joyful message of love and salvation “to the ends of the earth.”
What does St. James do with the money raised at the Gala?
Funding a quality education requires more than just tuition. It requires the generosity and compassion of our community. Gala proceeds will fuel teacher training, elevate academic experiences with programs like Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), and modernize facilities, curriculum, and technology. Additionally, a portion of funds will help ensure St. James' commitment to diversity by bolstering our scholarship fund, making St. James accessible to all families.
How much does the Gala cost, and how do I reserve my spot?
The event is $200 per person, which includes cocktail hour, hors d'oeuvres, and a three-course sit-down dinner during the live auction. Ticket sales will be available on 1.12.25. Sales are limited, so buy your tickets early!

How do I get involved?
We need the help of the community to make our Gala a success! If you have an item to donate for the live or silent auction, please click on the donate button at the top of this page. If you want to volunteer or help out with the Gala, please reach out to the Gala Committee.
Is the Traveler’s Gala open only to parents, staff and church members?
Absolutely not! We warmly welcome grandparents, friends, and neighbors to join in the fun while supporting St. James.
What is available to purchase?
The Gala is a fundraiser to aid the mission of St. James Lutheran School. To ensure everyone has an opportunity to contribute, there will be a wide variety of items available to bid on and purchase during the live and silent auctions. Varying levels of Sponsorships are also available to purchase. Most importantly, please join us for this joyful celebration of our city and St. James community, by purchasing your 'Piece by Peace' Gala ticket.
What are sign-up parties?
Sign-up parties are themed parties that offer social opportunities for adults and families to connect. These parties are donated and hosted by St. James families and occur on various dates throughout the year. All proceeds from these parties go directly to the school. There are no bidding wars, but spots are limited...sign up through the silent auction to reserve your spot. Sign-up early, the spots will go fast!

How do I get a tax receipt for items purchased or money donated at the event?
