Since 2015 the Evanston Lighthouse Rotary Club has presented Taste of Evanston as a way to address pressing needs in our city and abroad.
At Taste, live music welcomes hundreds of guests to a sunlit lakeside lawn where they sample and sip from more than 40 top restaurants, breweries and wine bars. A silent auction and a raffle for exciting prizes build suspense. And people from all over Chicago and the North Shore reconnect with old friends and make new ones. The event celebrates “Great Food for a Great Cause.” That cause? Doing good in our city and abroad.
Local projects supported by Taste of Evanston include making grants to non-profits concerned with housing affordability and homelessness; improving reading skills in adults and children; supporting our Latino community; and giving local children a chance to attend Camp Echo. International projects include helping Rotary and its partners eradicate polio; rescuing trafficked children in Ghana; improving maternal health care in Uganda; supporting an audiology clinic in the Dominican Republic; and more.
