Writers Theatre is thrilled to return to the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago for our 2026 WordPlay Gala on Saturday, April 25, 2026.
This pivotal event is key to supporting our mission, contributing to a quarter of our annual fundraising goal. It’s a chance to celebrate our artistic work and honor you—the generous supporters who make it all possible.
This year, we are honoring Chef Rick and Deann Bayless, award-winning and internationally renowned restaurateurs, philanthropists and passionate arts champions, with our Spirit of Writers Theatre Award. Their love of iconic musical theatre inspired our theme: “Night Music: An Evening of Sondheim and Friends.”
